Mens 3rd Team vs Leicester Westleigh 2

3rd Team Victorious in Local Derby

Leicester's 3rd XI welcomed local rivals Leicester Westleigh 2's to LGS on another baking hot October afternoon.... With only 11 players (again) it was going to be another hard slog.

The game started on an even footing with both teams working their way into the game. Eventually a pattern emerged with the ball in the Westleigh half most of the time with the away side relying on break a-ways. The 3's finally got the breakthrough with strong work down the right from seasoned professional Rich Thurlow who laid the ball across to Goodman senior, who deflected the ball to Josh Goodman who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner. Leading at the break the home team could live to regret not putting the game to bed in the first half.

The second half started in the same way with the home side dominating a tiring opposition. As the game started to get a little heated it was down to old stager Rich Thurlow to strike home from the top of the circle into the bottom left corner to calm the nerves of the home players. The game ended up with the away team letting themselves down on numerous occasions, with the situations dealt with extremely well by the two umpires (Zach and Patrick).

Overall, a hard earnt victory in trying conditions.
